Afterpay buy now pay later rival Zip favoured by investor Philip King of Regal

Shares in Afterpay Touch have doubled in the past 12 months as Millennials lap up its buy now, pay later solution to spending and now some investors are hoping its major rival, Westpac-backed payment provider Zip Co, can follow that lead. Regal Funds Management chief investment officer Philip King describes Zip as a “high-growth company that is in the sweet spot of moving from start-up losses to very high earnings growth”. Afterpay, Zip await ASIC critique of buy now pay later

An in-depth investigation into the often controversial buy now pay later industry by the corporate regulator that will assess whether new laws are needed to protect consumers will be made public in December, as new criticism is levelled at the model of local giant Afterpay Touch Group. Fintech payments startup Zip just closed a deal with Target Australia

Shares in Zip Co, the owner of zipPay, zipMoney and Pocketbook brands, jumped after the fintech announced a deal with Target Australia. A short time ago, the shares were up 5.8% to $1.09.The company announced a partnership with Target, owned by Wesfarmers, to offer Zip interest-free payments to customers in its 303 stores. Zip targeting $1b of sales and 1m customers

More than half a billion dollars of sales went through credit card disrupter Zip Co’s payment system over the latest financial year, more than twice the volume of the previous year but only a quarter of that spent on competitor Afterpay. Fintech Zip has hit cash flow break-even, its shares slip

Australian fintech Zip — the owner of the zipPay, zipMoney and Pocketbook brands — has hit cash flow break even right on target. In a business update, digital retail finance and payments player says revenue for the fourth quarter was $13.2 million, up 136% on the same three months last year. And Zip hit positive underlying cash from operating activities, after bad debt write-offs, of $700,000. However, Zip’s share price fell up to 3% in early trade. Shares in fintech payments startup Zip Co are going nuts

Shares in Zip Co — the owner of zipPay, zipMoney and Pocketbook brands — jumped after the latest quarterly results exceeded guidance. At the close, the shares were up 22.1% to $1.16.The company posted record December quarter revenue of $9.3 million, up 35%. Transaction volume was up 47% to $140 million. A record 1,800 new retailers joined the platform during the quarter, including Kogan, Fantastic Furniture, Anaconda and Spotlight, says Zip Co. zipMoney secures $40M strategic investment and relationship with Westpac

zipMoney Limited (ASX: ZML) is pleased to announce that it has secured a $40 million strategic investment in the Company from Westpac Banking Corporation (ASX: WBC) by way of a private share placement.
