HashChing eyes white label mortgages

The mortgage marketplace has launched a crowdfunding campaign in a bid to help facilitate its growth plans, which include rolling out its own white label loans. On Tuesday (15 May), mortgage marketplace HashChing launched a crowdfunding campaign with the target of raising $5 million to fund its growth ambitions. HashChing puts its hand out to go it alone

Online mortgage marketplace HashChing is looking to raise up to $5 million by the end of June through the power of crowd-funding, in a bid to ensure that it is immunised from the influence of any big bank, says CEO Mandeep Sodhi. Ex-NAB execs raise $15m to disrupt home loan market with new start-up Athena

Macquarie Capital and Square Peg are the lead investors in a $15 million funding round for fintech start-up Athena, which aims to use the latest technology to steal a march on the big banks in the competitive home loans market. DomaCom Australia completes crowdfunding of first mortgage backed loan

DomaCom Australia Ltd (ASX:DCL) has successfully completed the crowdfunding campaign to fund its first mortgage backed loan. The company’s online platform provides an opportunity for investors to invest in residential and commercial property across Australia through the fractional acquisition of units in a trust. Newcastle based financial advice firm Shartru Wealth Management used the DomaCom platform to acquire a $1.6 million residential property in Melbourne using both debt and equity. ‘Laggard’ lenders to be left behind: Moody’s

Banks that fail to digitally transform are at risk of losing their competitive edge to the rising number of online players entering the market, according to Moody’s. In its Fintech – Global: Bank of the Future report, Moody’s warned that banks that fail to adopt strategies that strengthen their digital platforms may struggle to maintain their current market position as customers increasingly explore finance alternatives from online lending platforms. ANZ partners with broker fintech tool

ANZ has announced it has entered into a relationship with Loanapp, a new e-lodgement tool for brokers to submit residential mortgage applications. The lender will initially make Loanapp available through integrations with aggregators, AFG and Connective. The Loanapp platform was built to the LIXI CAL 2.0 standard, which allows lenders to manage broker submission tools instantly. It is built so that mortgage brokers using Loanapp can ensure they are up to date and complying with lenders’ requirements in real time. Brokers split on fintech competition

More than half of mortgage brokers are not concerned about increased competition from online broking platforms, according to a recent survey. Despite this, almost a third of respondents said they were looking to improve the digital capabilities of their businesses. The survey was completed by MyState Bank’s national broker network. More than 47% of brokers responded saying that in the face of increased competition from online broking platforms, they would remain focused on their existing business models, which they considered to be competitive.
