Twitter CEO: Bitcoin will be the world’s ‘single currency’ in 10 years

Twitter and Square CEO Jack Dorsey apparently has big visions for bitcoin, commenting in a recent interview with The Times that he believes that the cryptocurrency will become the world’s single currency within 10 years. According to Dorsey, “The world ultimately will have a single currency, the internet will have a single currency. I personally believe that it will be bitcoin.” Dorsey went on to say that the transition would happen “probably over ten years, but it could go faster,” which seems like an extremely unrealistic projection, even considering cryptocurrency’s meteoric rise in popularity over the past few months. Bank disrupter Prospa readies first pitch to fund managers

Privately-owned small business lender Prospa will start its search for new investors in coming weeks, when it fronts local and offshore fund managers ahead of a planned initial public offering. It’s understood Macquarie Capital and UBS’s equities desks have been booking fundies to meet Prospa management in Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and Hong Kong during the first week of February, for a non-deal roadshow. Victoria to launch two FinTech hubs

The Victorian Government has announced plans to launch two new FinTech hubs in Melbourne in partnership with local hub operators. The partnerships with Stone & Chalk and YBF Ventures (formerly York Butter Factory) will seek to facilitate the development of Melbourne’s FinTech sector. The Stone & Chalk hub will be located at Goods Shed North in Docklands. Already the home to cybersecurity organisations including the CSIRO’s Data61, the hub will be transformed into a FinTech and cybersecurity precinct.
