Techboard data shows the startling growth of the Australian fintech sector

US-based data company CB Insights recently reported that VC investment in Australian Fintech had grown from $67m in 2017 to $343 million in 2018. While this does show massive growth in funding for Australia’s fintech sector, data from Australian Startup Data Company Techboard indicates that this represents a significant understatement of the sector’s growth. Techboard has recently released its Report for the December quarter 2018 which revealed another $1.066B in funding for Australian Startups and young tech companies. Prospa recognised in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Australia awards for Leadership

Prospa, Australia’s number one online small business lender, has ranked 5th for Leadership and 20th overall in the 2018 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Australia Awards. The awards rank Australia’s fastest growing public or private technology companies based on their percentage revenue growth over the last three years (2016-18). New SMSF admin offering hits market from fintech firm

A fintech firm has developed a new platform which provides SMSF establishment and ongoing administration services. The financial technology platform, called Selfmade, was developed by former Macquarie investment banker Robin Huender and MoneyMe Financial Group chief executive Clayton Howes. Selfmade is an online platform allowing users to establish and monitor the performance of their SMSF while admin and tax returns are taken care of in the background. “Selfmade has built its platform with integrations to Class and Macquarie. Keeping up with the customer in the digital age

Demanding customers, increasing regulation and clunky IT systems are proving serious speed bumps for Australian companies who want to grow in the digital age. Lending is facing a particularly sensitive atmosphere because of the banking royal commission, with many disruptors investing heavily in “regtech” – technology that simplifies compliance.
