Spaceship introduces US Investing service

Australian investing app Spaceship has announced the launch of its US Investing service. This new offering empowers Australian investors to tap into the world’s largest share market with accessibility and ease.

With Spaceship’s US Investing service, investors gain access to a selection of US-listed Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) and stocks. This opens up a world of exciting investment opportunities, allowing individuals to participate in the growth of world-leading companies and innovative sectors that have made the US stock market renowned on a global scale.

One of the standout features of the Spaceship US Investing service is the remarkably low barrier to entry, with a minimum investment requirement of just AU$10. This makes it easy for Australian investors to explore and invest in popular ETFs and stocks listed on US stock markets.

The service offers exceptional value for investors with a small monthly fee — just an extra $2 a month for eligible Spaceship Voyager customers (or $4 for those without) — granting the freedom to execute unlimited trades on a range of US ETFs and stocks.

Spaceship has prioritised simplicity in the investment process by highlighting a selection of US ETFs aligned with the company’s forward-thinking, sustainable, and traditional investment themes.

When it comes to stocks, investors will be spoiled for choice, with internationally-acclaimed companies such as Tesla, Apple and Nvidia available for purchase. This diverse array of options enables investors to craft a portfolio that aligns with their financial goals, risk tolerance and personal preferences.

“We’re excited to introduce the Spaceship US Investing service, which aims to democratise access to the US stock market for Australian investors,” said Andrew Moore, CEO at Spaceship. “Our mission is to transform the way young Aussies think about and invest their money, and this new US Investing service plays an important role in expanding our investing ecosystem.”

“We’ve surveyed and interviewed our customers and we’ve heard that while they love our Spaceship Voyager managed funds, they are also looking for more varied and diversified options in the form of ETFs. Some also wanted the option to invest more in companies they love, which is why we are also making individual stocks available.”

“One of our core values is being forward-thinking, which is what our Where the World is Going™ investing philosophy is founded upon,” said Moore. “We believe that the tech-leaning nature of US markets stays true to this, giving our customers the ability to participate in the global economy and capitalise on the growth potential of leading US companies.”

Spaceship’s US Investing service is poised to reshape the landscape of Australian investing, moving away from a traditional brokerage model and towards a subscription model, which encourages frequent, regular investing with a long-term mindset, enabling customers to dollar-cost average in an affordable way.

Spaceship has also streamlined the investment experience by conducting all transactions in Australian dollars. This decision enhances clarity and transparency, making it easier for investors to understand the value of their investments. However, it’s important to note that a small foreign exchange fee does apply.

“It was important for us to stay true to our core values of accessibility and transparency,” said Moore. “With our user-friendly platform, low investment threshold, and simple and affordable fee structure, we believe we’ve done just that.”

“We are making accessing the US market easier than ever before, while also encouraging healthy, long-term investing behaviours for our customers.”
