Payment app Beem It releases fun new gift card feature, just in time for Christmas

Since announcing just last month the company had transferred ownership to trusted Australian payments company eftpos, payment app Beem It has launched a brand new feature, continuing to develop digital payment solutions to make the lives of Australians easier.

Beem It’s new feature is their take on the modern gifting experience. With the success of their social features to date: Stickers, GIPHY and reactions, it was evident users enjoy dressing up payments to suit their own tone of voice. Beem It wanted to take this notion of social and fun payments and apply it to a new gifting solution, creating an experience for both the user and receiver that goes beyond the functional gift card.

“We wanted to challenge the view that a digital gift card is the less personal option as we believe the gift of choice is actually quite a thoughtful one, especially looking back on some of the gifts I’ve received myself!”

“To do so, we’ve built the feature with the gifting experience at its core, from allowing users to select from a range of animations reflective of their personal taste. With the digital unwrapping and interactive scratch to reveal functionality, we wanted the gifting experience to feel unique and memorable,” said Jason Backhouse, Head of Operations at Beem It.

With online shopping continuing to grow as a practical and contactless way to shop, Beem It decided to bring forward its gift card feature to offer customers a new solution in the lead up to Christmas. With many people unable to exchange in-person gifts this year or avoiding the shops all together, they felt a contactless solution couldn’t come at a better time.

To purchase a gift card via Beem It, customers are required to download the app and create an account with a valid Australian debit or credit card. They’ll then be able to browse through over 50 well-known brands and select the right gift for the job before adding their own flair. They’re then able to send the custom gift via link or printout to the recipient, regardless of whether they are in fact a Beem It customer.

Beem It has also announced that they plan to enable storage of the gift cards within the app shortly, leveraging the existing loyalty card functionality to offer ease of access to their customers.
