Savers are earning almost 10 per cent a year by lending online through banking’s answer to eBay. Peer to peer or P2P lenders, to use their cyber-savvy name, are auction sites for potential lenders and borrowers who bid an amount and an interest rate. Fintech split on lower regulatory hurdles

Challengers to the banks and global payment giants disagree on whether there should be an easing of regulations for finance start-ups, a major recommendation of the Murray inquiry.Peer-to-peer lender RateSetter Australia argues current regulations are adequate and flexible enough.
