Zii acquires POS platform Suntech Australia
There’s no slowing down for Melbourne-based hospitality tech startup Zii, as they kick into the second quarter of the new year by finalising the acquisition of fellow Melbourne-based point-of-sale (POS) platform Suntech Enterprises Australia.
Since entering the market in 2019, Zii has been rapidly growing their customer base and evolving their technology stack which in addition to POS, now includes bookings, online ordering, customer loyalty, and inventory management.
With the acquisition of Suntech, a broader customer segment is within reach.
“We see it as a strategic acquisition, as there are a lot of complimentary aspects of our businesses that really create a one plus one equals three situation. It will increase our effectiveness and reach in what is a very crowded marketplace, both locally and internationally,” said Co-Founder Nolan Taing.
The acquisition brings Zii’s total number of venues close to 12,000 nationally with a broad mix of single-site and blue-chip retail and hospitality.
“A key drawcard for the acquisition was Suntech’s prominence in the food and beverage retailing sector, including catering, independent supermarkets, convenience stores and chain stores. This helps us to quickly mature our tech stack to service a broader segment of food services,” added Taing.
The rest of 2022 is shaping up to be a big year for Zii with plans already afoot for growth in New Zealand, Asia and expansion into additional offerings including payment related services.
