The FinTech Revolution – a challenge or opportunity?

The financial technologies (FinTech) revolution will rely on trends such as leveraging data, being customer-centric, advancing human capabilities and fostering a mindset of change, participants of a FinTech panel discussion will hear.

Officially launching the partnership between Swinburne’s Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship (AGSE) and Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, the panel discussion will focus on the rapidly transforming financial services sector.

Director of the Master of FinTech and panel discussion moderator, Dr Dimitrios Salampasis, says it is vital to discuss how emerging technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence impact financial services beyond technology-enabled innovations.

“The FinTech space is moving beyond the hype in terms of the development of viable and sustainable business models. There are a number of interesting and scalable use cases of these emerging technologies,” he says.

The panel will consist of well-established FinTech and financial services leaders who will provide insights into the challenges and opportunities in the sector. Panellists include: Dominic Pym, Co-Founder Up, Meredith Angwin, Partner & FinTech Advisory, EY, David Nemirovsky, Data & Analytics Associate Partner, IBM and Melissa Mack, Head of Communications, MoneyPlace and Board Member of FinTech Australia.

Dr Salampasis says the AGSE is delighted to partner with Bendigo Bank on Australia’s first postgraduate FinTech program to prepare future FinTech professionals for the challenges and opportunities of the evolving financial services sector.
