Smart Ease unveils new solar savings tool to show how solar can cut business costs
Leading funder of commercial decarbonisation equipment, Smart Ease, has unveiled its new solar savings and cash-flow graph “Quick Calculator”, an industry-first tool designed to help businesses see the immediate financial benefits of investing in solar with a Payment Plan.
Launched as part of Smart Ease’s upgraded Portal, the interactive tool provides accredited solar installers with a simple way to demonstrate potential long-term savings for their commercial customers.
For the 80% of Australian SMEs struggling with cash flow over the past year (Commbank, 16 January 2025), this new tool presents a clear and compelling measure to address their cashflow woes: solar.
By generating side-by-side electricity-bill comparisons with minimal data input, the Quick Calculator not only presents pre- and post-solar energy costs, but also highlights estimated residual savings after Smart Ease Payment Plan repayments have ended. This allows businesses to see how investing in solar could be cash-flow positive from day one, and demonstrate their ongoing savings in real terms.

While many business owners may hesitate to invest in energy-efficiency equipment due to immediate cash-flow concerns, Smart Ease CCO Stefanie Di Trocchio explains that it’s simply a matter of capital reallocation.
“Australian businesses are facing increasing financial pressure, with rising energy costs among their top concerns,” said Di Trocchio. “Many would like to invest in solar but lack the upfront capital to do so.
“A $0-upfront Payment Plan allows business owners to lower their energy costs immediately while using the savings to pay off the system over time. If they can manage their current energy bills, they can afford solar. By reallocating their existing energy budget toward a solar investment, many businesses could find themselves in a cash-flow positive position.”
Smart Ease hopes the Quick Calculator will help business owners see firsthand how affordable, accessible and financially beneficial investing in solar can be.
