Skalata Ventures recruits for its largest intake
Seed investment program, Skalata Ventures, is recruiting its largest intake for its 2020 October program. Up to 15 early stage companies will be accepted in the next program with Expressions of Interest open Australia-wide.
The program provides strategic guidance and operational support from program coaches who have either built, advised or worked in high growth companies. In addition to receiving up to $250K in funding, participants in the program are welcomed into Skalata’s network of prospective investors, customers and experts.
Since April, the program has been delivered virtually, a format that has been confirmed for the 2020 October program. The change means that regional and interstate founders no longer need to relocate to Skalata’s office in Melbourne to participate in the program.
Ezhil Mohan and Nisha Sowdri, Co-Founders of Restoplus, a 2020 April portfolio company based in Adelaide, said that while the team originally planned to move to Melbourne, participating in the online program has been a superior experience.
“Working remotely doesn’t really impact the program. We still have virtual face-to-face meetings with our coaches and the Skalata team. If anything, it’s more convenient because we can stay connected with our families during the program,” says Nisha.
Since 2019, Skalata Ventures has invested in 15 early stage companies from a variety of industries including but not limited to agtech, audiology, AI, fintech, SaaS, VR/AR and logistics.
While the program is industry agnostic, to be considered for the program companies must be innovative, market ready, capital lean, capital efficient and also have a minimum of two full-time people working on the business.
Expressions of Interest for their 2020 October program close midnight Sunday 12 July.
