Independent Reserve named a global leader in 2025 Hoptrail Crypto AML Leaderboards
Independent Reserve have been named a global leader in anti-money laundering (AML) in the Hoptrail Crypto AML Leaderboards: 2025 Annual Review.
The Crypto AML Leaderboard showcases how well Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) are responding to financial crime issues, whether that’s KYC procedures, regulatory issues, integrity concerns, or financial transparency.
Independent Reserve was the highest ranking cryptocurrency exchange globally and ranked third overall on the list of over 1,000 entities with a total score of 93.63, significantly above the average leaderboard score of 82.75.
Independent Reserve CEO, Adrian Przelozny, said, “We’re pleased to have been recognised by Hoptrail and I’m proud of the conservative approach we have always voluntarily taken in managing our business and client assets. This includes:
- Keeping full reserves of all client assets
- Keeping the vast majority of client assets in offline cold storage vaults
- Not commingling Independent Reserve’s digital assets and funds with those of our clients
- Undergoing regular financial audits to obtain external assurance. We are ISO27001 certified as assurance of our processes and security protocols.
“As more Australians invest in digital assets, it’s critical that we have a robust and competitive regulatory, tax and policy framework that deals with these assets in order to provide certainty to the sector and ultimately, increase consumer protection.
“For too long, investors have had to weigh up access to the growth of digital assets such as cryptocurrencies with the risks of investing in a largely unregulated environment. Australian investors deserve better,” Przelozny added.
The purpose of Leaderboards is to detail the history, operations, and integrity of crypto services of all shapes and sizes; and to showcase how well those entities are responding to and dealing with financial crime risks in the cryptocurrency sector. To do this, Hoptrail scores and ranks entities across more than 30 AML criteria via an institutional-grade risk scoring model designed on FATF AML-CFT guidelines.
The AML Leaderboards recognition follows Independent Reserve being named 2024 AML, Data, Identity & Security Leader of the Year at The Australian Blockchain Industry Awards, known as The Blockies, an annual event hosted by the Digital Economy Council of Australia (DECA).
