Data Action

Data Action (DA) is a specialist software and services provider to the alternate banking and financial services industry. Operating nationally with staff based in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, DA services a broad client base including customer owned banks, credit unions, neobanks and financial services membership organisations.

Established as a co-operative in 1986 by five local credit unions, DA started out by providing hosted core banking services. In 1997 DA commenced a selection process for a new core banking system (CBS), which culminated in the migration of the first client to the new core, Phoenix, in September 2001. Since then, DA has performed over 80 migrations/implementations/mergers to this platform.

In 2011 DA purchased the intellectual property of Phoenix CBS and obtained selling rights in Australia and New Zealand. The product was rebranded to ‘DA CBS’.

Since 2015, DA has launched a number of products and enhancements as part of the technology roadmap, which has a focus on Mobile First principles and payment innovation, including:

  • Fully responsive digital banking platform
  • Personal financial management
  • DA banking app
  • Western Union international money transfers
  • New payments platform
  • Open Banking for Product Reference Data

DA also achieved PCI DSS 3.1 compliance in 2015 and have continued to maintain this certification each year since.

Nicola Burgess was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2019 and has led a transformation of DA through reinvigoration of the executive team and a renewed focus on the financial wellbeing of Australians.

With this renewed focus firmly embedded, DA enhances the banking experience of more than a million Australians via its core banking and digital platforms every day. With over 30 years’ experience, DA represents over $33 billion in client assets and is well positioned to continue its extraordinary track record of success with continued market expansion.
