Banjo Loans to host webinar on why mindset matters for business owners

With mental strain at an all-time high for small to medium enterprise (SME) business owners and their financial advisors, waiting to see what happens isn’t always an option. Leading non-bank lender, Banjo Loans understands the pressures that stress can create for SMEs.

To help increase awareness around the often-hidden mental load that comes with running or providing financial advice and support to an SME business, Banjo Loans is hosting a free webinar, which aims to offer practical strategies to support SME business leaders regain control, clarity and connection before stress sees them reach their breaking point.

Commencing at 11am AEST on Tuesday 29 July, the webinar will explore how managing mental wellness is no longer a nice-to-have, but essential for long-term success, both for SME business owners and the financial advisors who support them.

Titled “Mindset Matters for Business Owners”, the session will bring together a panel of experts from the mental health, finance and SME sectors to discuss how to spot the signs of burnout, build resilience and take a more sustainable approach to leadership.

The webinar will feature industry leading speakers, including:

  • Bronwyn Penhaligon – Strategic Psychotherapist, Penhaligons Applied Psychology
  • Joseph Healy – Co-Founder & CEO, Malu Health Group
  • Guy Callaghan – CEO, Banjo Loans

According to Bronwyn Penhalgion, the webinar aims to shine a light on the often-unspoken personal pressures behind business ownership.

“Running a business isn’t just about numbers and strategy – it’s emotional. There’s pressure, self-doubt, sleepless nights… and not enough honest conversation about it,” said Ms Penhalgion.

“This session is a chance to talk openly about what it really takes to stay mentally strong when the stakes are high and share some practical tools that actually make a difference.”

Webinar attendees will hear from the experts on topics including:

  • The emotional realities of business leadership, including imposter syndrome, decision fatigue and isolation
  • How to identify the red flags of mental strain, before they become overwhelming
  • Wellness tools and mindset shifts that actually work in high-pressure environments
  • Stories of resilience from business owners who’ve been through turning points and what helped them get through
  • The role of brokers, lenders and advisors in supporting the people behind the business

Joseph Healy said while the financial performance of SMEs is often front of mind, personal wellbeing can be the foundation (or the fault line) of business success.

“We are living in an age of revolutions – digital and technological, demographic, economic, regulatory and geopolitical. These changes are affecting all of us and they significantly add to the burden of managing a business, regardless of its size. Navigating this, arguably once-in-a-century rate of change and uncertainty, is very challenging and planning for the future is as risky today as it has ever been,” Mr Healy said.

“It is no surprise, therefore, that the stress of running a business affects so many of us, and it is one reason why we have a mental health crisis in Australia.

“It has never been more critical that the awareness of mental health issues in the workplace is near the top of every business’s agenda, whether it is a corner shop or ASX30.”

Finance brokers, accountants, lenders, and small business owners are encouraged to register for the free session via the Banjo Loans website.
