5. In one sentence, what does your fintech do?:
The ID Co. help financial providers onboard their customers quicker
6. How / why did you start your fintech company?:
- We originally formed as MiiCard Ltd, before becoming The ID Co.
7. What is the best thing your company has achieved or learnt along the way (this can include awards, capital raising etc)?:
In April of this year we raised $2m funding to help our expansion into US territories. We’re well into a period of marked expansion. Customer volume continues to grow, and as it does so, we’re looking to work with the right customers who share a similar approach as we do. As with many FinTech’s, the US is a key market, and we’re confident that our product suite is unlike anything else available to the US market.
8 What’s some advice you’d give to an aspiring start-up?:
Find your use-case early, and have it validated by people who would consider buying your product.
9. What’s next for your company? And are you looking to expand overseas or stay focussed on Australia?:
Australia remains an important market for us, as well as our home base of the UK and Europe. Beyond that, we have personnel working full-time in the US, and expansion there is a key goal for us through 2019.
10. What other fintechs or companies do you admire?:
There are many that we aspire to be like such as N26 or Monzo, while we also admire smaller FinTech’s that show passion in what they do. A good example of this is another Edinburgh based FinTech called Sustainably.
11. What’s the most interesting or funniest moment that’s happened in your company’s lifetime?:
Probably moving into our new offices at the base of Edinburgh Castle. The views from here are stunning, and we’re parked right in the city centre. The contrast between our previous office, and this one is stark, and we’re really happy to be here.
