5. In one sentence, what does your fintech do?: Shopperoo is a cryptoprocessing platform allowing merchants to accept cryptocurrency payments in-store or online. Allowing instant conversion into fiat currency cancelling out any potential risk of crypto price volatility once a sale has been made.
6. How / why did you start your fintech company?: Due to demand from merchants across the world, we have morphed into something much larger than our first iteration of a marketplace: a payment gateway for businesses across the world to process hundreds of cryptocurrencies with instant conversion.
7. What is the best thing your company has achieved or learnt along the way (this can include awards, capital raising etc)?: Solving the crypto-fiat volatility issues. The major hurdle to adoption for merchants has always been what happens once we process a crypto transaction. Are we stuck with crypto. By using liquidity partners we were able to solve this. Quite the achievement for our Queensland based team.
8. What’s some advice you’d give to an aspiring start-up?: Find a gap in the market and never give up until you fill it. Solving problems is the key to success in any start-up. Well that and passion of course.
9. What’s next for your company? And are you looking to expand overseas or stay focussed on Australia?: We are embarking a capital raise to grow our sales team, embark on expansion across the Asia Pacific region, and to market our existing product to businesses everywhere.
10. What other fintechs or companies do you admire?: Afterpay has been a leader in Fintech in Australia over the past few years. The adoption of their platform is something we would like to mirror in every way possible. Providing a way for crypto holders to spend their balances in-stores and online via retailers is Long overdue.
11. What’s the most interesting or funniest moment that’s happened in your company’s lifetime?: When we managed to successfully perform a crypto transaction that immediately converted to AUD using our liquidity partner. It was excitement, relief, and achievement all rolled in to one climatic moment.
