5. In one sentence, what does your fintech do?:
paybtc are a fast, secure and reliable service that allows you to sell bitcoin for AUD with instant clearing to bank accounts in 1 block confirmation.
6. How / why did you start your fintech company?:
From being involved in the Bitcoin space for quite some time, we were frustrated there was no way to quickly bridge the gap between Bitcoin and AUD. So in 2018 we decided to build a platform that enabled this in just two steps. We launched in March 2019 and from feedback since, we can tell users really appreciate the convenience, speed and simplicity of paybtc.
7. What is the best thing your company has achieved or learnt along the way (this can include awards, capital raising etc)?:
In May 2019, we became the fastest Bitcoin to AUD offramp in Australia when we launched near instant payments.
8. What’s some advice you’d give to an aspiring start-up?:
Focus on the product and provide as much value as possible. Also, be mindful not to be too obnoxius with advertising, user retention is cheaper than acquisition.
9. What’s next for your company? And are you looking to expand overseas or stay focussed on Australia?:
We are focused on Australia.
10. What other fintechs or companies do you admire?:
Transferwise had great execution, a great product and an excellent marketing strategy.
11. What’s the most interesting or funniest moment that’s happened in your company’s lifetime?:
It’s interesting seeing people’s reactions at our meetups when they see how simple our platform really is. It’s also interesting learning more about Bitcoin while running paybtc and the positive impact it is currently making and will continue to have on the world.
