Aussie crowdfunders ReadyFundGo supports the global climate strike

ReadyFundGo stands together with individuals and businesses across the world calling on leaders to act now on climate change as part of the Global Climate Strike – 20 September 2019. The primary shout is for people to join the Global #ClimateStrike on 20 September. They understand that there may be people working in emergency services or in companies with legal obligations to deliver, that cannot make it to the strike – so they’re asking for them to join them in planting a tree.

According to the United Nations, we only have 11 years to limit the climate change catastrophe. Without rapid cuts in CO2 and other greenhouse gases, climate change will have increasingly destructive and irreversible impacts on life on Earth. With a 1.5 degree global warming scenario we lose 70-90% of the planet’s coral reefs. At 2 degrees we lose over 99% ( Source:Global Warming of 1.5°C, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change https://www.ipcc.ch/sr15/).

On 20 September 2019, millions of us around the world will walk out of our workplaces and homes to join young climate strikers on the streets, demanding action on climate change now – inspired by Swedish student and climate activist Greta Thunberg.

For those companies or individuals who are unable to join the #ClimateStrike, ReadyFundGo propose they show solidarity by planting a tree.

ReadyFundGo has partnered with Carbon Neutral, Australia’s major carbon offset developer who have planted 29.5 million trees to date. The trees will be planted in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor, Western Australia.

Details on how individuals and organisations can participate are on their website at: https://readyfundgo.com/project/climate-strike/

We now face “climate crisis” as opposed to “climate change”.  I, for one, have been inspired by the16-year-old school girl, Greta Thunberg and how she has led the way in demanding decisive action from Governments around the world. Over 1,000 businesses have joined the Not Business As Usual Alliance, and more are still joining.  I understand that many people and organisations may not be able to physically join the strikes and urge those who cannot to consider planting a tree to show support,” said Jill Storey, CEO ReadyFundGo.

By planting a tree, individuals are taking positive action to help reduce carbon in the atmosphere, and also show their support for the next generation and their demands for swift action on climate change.
