Global X makes several key appointments and opens fourth office in Australia

Global X ETFs, one of Australia’s leading ETF providers, have announced several key appointments across Operations, Finance and Distribution.

These appointments come at a pivotal time for Global X, as the firm continues to expand its footprint in Australia’s growing ETF market. Strengthening leadership across key areas of the business ensures Global X is well positioned to meet the evolving needs of investors while positioning the firm for its next phase of strategic growth.

“These strategic appointments reflect our ongoing investment in leadership and our commitment to strengthening the infrastructure that underpins every part of our business,” said Alex Zaika, CEO of Global X ETFs Australia.

“As we enter our next phase of growth it is more important than ever to have strong, experienced leaders in place across the business. These individuals bring deep expertise, local insight, and a shared vision for innovation, which will allow us to continue delivering exceptional service and solutions to our clients across the country.”

Steven Romei has joined Global X as Head of Operations, bringing deep industry expertise from his time at State Street Global Advisors and Vanguard. Romei has a strong track record in scaling operational frameworks including product operations, risk and compliance and change management. In this role, he will oversee operational processes including investment operations, data and technology to ensure the firm’s continued excellence in service delivery and innovation.

In a move that highlights the firm’s commitment to developing internal talent, Brianna Fallins has been promoted to Head of Finance. Having been with the company for just over two years, she has played a pivotal role in Global X’s financial planning, forecasting, and reporting and will now oversee all aspects of the company’s financial operations. Fallins previously held several finance roles at Coolabah Capital Investments.

To support the firm’s rapidly growing investor base across the country, Global X has also created a new role: Senior Business Development Manager, Western Australia, and appointed Andrew Knight to lead the expansion in the region. Based in Perth, he will be responsible for supporting the execution of the firm’s distribution strategy across the intermediary client segment including financial planners, wealth managers and stockbrokers across West Australia and South Australia.

“This marks Global X’s first appointment based in Western Australia, signalling a significant expansion of our national footprint. Establishing a dedicated presence in the west strengthens Global X’s ability to deliver localised service and build deeper relationships with clients and partners in the region, reinforcing its commitment to being a truly national provider of ETF solutions,” said Zaika.

Knight brings nearly 30 years of experience in the finance and investment management industry, having held leadership roles at AMP, NAB and MLC, in addition to eight years personally delivering wealth advice as a Financial Planner. An accomplished business leader, he has extensive experience in financial services, relationship management and strategic execution. He brings a core strength in developing culture, leading within complex corporate structures, growing employee capability, and delivering compliant leadership to drive better client outcomes and commercial success.

Global X boasts multiple offices around the country including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and now Perth while the business has 13 offices globally, managing almost US$100 billion in AUM. Global X’s parent company Mirae Asset is one of the largest asset managers in South Korea, with a long history in the Australian market across ETFs, property, infrastructure, venture capital, and actively managed funds.
