Fintech start-up IPO Wealth has raised $10 million in growth capital that it will use to help overseas companies list on the ASX. Since March 2017, high net wealth investors have invested $10 million in the IPO Wealth Fund, which aims to help overseas companies list on the ASX and has funded the growth capital of 10 investments across eight countries. Profits at Owen Kerr’s foreign exchange broker Pepperstone have surged in the 2017 financial year, as the company enjoyed a large increase in clients from Asia. Pepperstone’s earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) surged 99 per cent to a record $96.7 million from $166 million revenue. Net profit for the firm reached $71.2 million after the Melbourne-based company paid about $25 million in tax, documents recently filed with the corporate regulator revealed. The 2017 results were more than double from the previous year, during which Pepperstone had made a net profit of about $34 million from $96 million revenue and EBIT of $48 million. Afterpay surges as sales head for $1.5b
Lay-by payments service Afterpay Touch says its underlying annualised sales are on track to surpass $1.5 billion as more major brands sign up. The fintech’s first quarter sales hit $367 million, up from $271 million in the fourth quarter of 2016/17, and comes after Target, Luxottica and Petbarn recently adopted its online payments system. Shares in Afterpay jumped 48 cents, or 10.2 per cent, to $5.18 on the company’s quarterly sales update. Afterpay says more than 8,600 merchants are now on board, up from about 6,000 on June 30. Peppermint enter lucrative gateway services market
ASX listed fin-tech player Peppermint Innovation’s rollout of its unique technology platform has taken a big step forward after the Perth-based company struck a further deal with UCPB, one of the Philippines’ largest banks. Peppermint, who are currently focused on the commercialisation and development of their mobile-phone based bill payment technology said they had inked a deal with UCPB to roll out internet payment “gateway services” in the Philippines for the giant lender.
